ABLE Helps Belinda Enroll in the Specialized Recovery Services Program

Belinda’s* world took an unexpected turn when she received a notice informing her that she had been unenrolled from Medicare after years of seamless coverage. Shortly afterward, more bad news arrived: a notice of termination for her Medicaid benefits. As an older adult with disabilities and a limited income, Belinda was left feeling uncertain about how she would now afford essential medical care and prescriptions.

Belinda reached out to ABLE for help, and our Healthcare and Public Benefits practice group provided her with a free attorney. Belinda’s attorney contacted Job and Family Services to investigate and advocate for her. During the investigation, the attorney identified a Medicaid program called Specialized Recovery Services, which provides even more comprehensive coverage and services than Belinda’s previous Medicaid plan.

Thanks to ABLE’s quick intervention, Belinda was evaluated and found eligible for the Specialized Recovery Services program, which we helped her enroll in. With her Medicaid reinstated, Belinda was also re-enrolled in Medicare without any penalties.

By addressing her challenges head-on and connecting her to the right resources, ABLE ensured that Belinda’s health and well-being were prioritized. We’re committed to helping individuals like Belinda navigate complex systems and secure the support they deserve.
